Mapping assets in Nordhordland

Nordhordland gathered nearly 30 people, all of them taking active part in developing tourism in Nordhordland. This was the first meeting in the SHAPE-project, and we started off with a presentation av our main goals and objectives. Although Nordhordland is situated close to Bergen and to the Sognefjord, we do not have much tourism here and we hope that SHAPE can contribute to develop more sustainable tourism in our region.

In the first section of the workshop we were focused on existing networks and collaboration between businesses. What is successful and what are the challenges that they have experienced?

The main part of the workshop was dedicated to mapping assets for sustainable tourism. Divided into 5 groups the participants mapped infrastructure and natural and cultural assets. Nordhordland has nine municipalities and all of them were represented at the meeting. When each group presented their work and thoughts it became very clear that we now we have a huge amount of information and stakeholders onboard that are eager to contribute.

Next step is to get the information into an online map – and develop a useable structure for how we can use all this information to develop attractive tourism products. We will have the next meeting focusing on these possibilities and introducing the SHAPE e-service.
